Perspectus: Our History

The Perspectus platform was born out of necessity in 2014 when Dr. Tod Clapp was feeling pressure to improve the academic quality and engagement of his anatomy program at Colorado State University.  As he assessed new technology and tools to enhance the student understanding, he kept finding that traditional market options were inadequate.

The solution was Virtual Reality.

From Classrooom Tool to a Global Solution

The Human Virtual Anatomy Project, later named BananaVision™, was inspired by the desire to improve anatomy curriculum in a way that makes spatial relationships more intuitive and to move beyond the limitations of two dimensional imaging.

In 2017, what began as an independent study course at Colorado State University quickly evolved into an award winning Hackathon project that has since revolutionized anatomy studies by allowing users to view three dimensional images as intended – in three dimensions.

In 2020, the decision was made to leverage this patented, innovative technology to capitalize on increased demand for data visualization-based, experiential learning and personalized treatment in health care. Later that year, Perspectus, Inc., a Fort Collins, CO based technology company was founded and awarded an exclusive worldwide license to distribute BananaVision under its new name: Perspectus VR.
